From May 23 to 27, the General Command of the Marine Infantry will host the Conference of Leaders of the Marine Infantry of the Americas (MLAC), which will take place in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is a biannual international conference to address issues of interest from the countries participating in the security and defense area. This is the eighth edition of the MLAC, with previous achievements in Ecuador (2001), Colombia (2004), Chile (2006), Brazil (2009), Peru (2011), Colombia (2014) and Mexico (2018).
This year, when we commemorate the 200 years of independence and the Brazilian fleet, the MLAC will address as a central theme “to be proposed by the CGCFN-30”, which will be discussed in two days of bilateral conferences and meetings among the leaders involved . Visits will also be made to military organizations of the Navy Infantry Corps of the Navy of Brazil, as well as cultural activities. The realization of the conference and meetings at the accommodation hotel itself aims to optimize times, avoid unnecessary travel expenses and reduce the exposure of invited authorities.
MLAC, since its creation in 2001, seeks to strengthen security in the Western hemisphere through the professional exchange of knowledge, consolidating the cooperation and friendship ties that unite the participating countries.
