WOMEN`S PEACE OPERATIONS COURSE

     Held once a semester, it aims to disseminate knowledge about Peace Operations to the female military public, among officers and Enlisted of the Armed Forces and Auxiliary Forces, as well as civilians. Additionally, encourage and provide basic preparation for female participation in this type of Operation.

     Since the adoption of Resolution 1325/2000 of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which deals with the importance and expansion of female participation in Peace Operations, the United Nations (UN) has been adopting several measures to encourage its Member States to expand women's participation. Resolution 2242/2015 recently set a target for a significant increase in the number of women in Peace Operations by 2020. Additionally, in 2018, the challenge towards gender equity was reaffirmed by the current UN Secretary-General, who launched the Strategy for Gender Parity of Uniformed Personnel. The new policy defined objective and realistic goals that are to be achieved by 2028; different, even for the military and police, also differentiating the fact that they serve as individual missions or as part of troop contingents.

     In this sense, with the purpose of contributing so that Brazil can reach the established goal, the Brazilian Navy, in an initiative of the Command of Naval Operations, in coordination with the Brazilian Marine Corps Headquarters, will carry out in 2021 , through the Naval Peace Operations Training Center (NPOTC), the 5th Women`s Peace Operations Course from 4 to 14 May and the 1st International Women`s Operations Course from 17 to 27 August.

     03 Courses were held from 2018 to 2019, and the 4th Course in the period from September 29 to October 8, 2020, at NPOTC and, like those previously carried out, consisted of instructions covering the United Nations Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (UN CPTM, basic United Nations pre-deployment training material, knowledge of which is mandatory for every individual who makes up a United Nations Peace Operation Mission); basic instructions on fundamentals of Military Operations (in order to familiarize military Students from other Corps and Cadres other than the Marine Corps, as well as civilians, with the tactical and operational environments of the mission); lectures with personalities of notorious knowledge and, also, specific instructions on the theme "Women, Peace and Security".
