Captain (Ret.), Prof. Dr. William de Sousa Moreira

William de Sousa Moreira is a member of the teaching staff at the Naval War College (EGN). A graduate of the Naval Academy, he spent his career in the Brazilian Navy and joined the reserve in 2008 as a Sea and War Captain. He has a PhD in Naval Sciences from the Naval War College (EGN) (2003), in the Naval Education System, and a PhD in Political Science from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) (2013). He is the science, technology and innovation (ST&I) advisor at the EGN and teaches in the Postgraduate Program in Maritime Studies, in the research line "policy, management and logistics in ST&I in the maritime environment". He was a visiting professor at King's College London (2021-23), in the Defense Studies Department of the School of Security Studies. He was Coordinator of Professional Programs in the Area of Political Science and International Relations at CAPES (MEC) (2018-2022). He has experience in the area of Defense, with an emphasis on Force Planning and Maritime Security, and is dedicated to research on the relationships between science, technology and power, with a focus on the maritime environment. His recent works include the book "Power and the Maritime Domain: A Global Dialogue". (Org.) Routledge Publishing (UK), 2023. Co-edited by William S.
