
Mr. Timothy Walker is British and has permanent residence in South Africa. His main academic qualifications are: Master of Political and International Studies (Humanities) from Rhodes University, Bachelor of Humanities (Honours) in International Studies from Rhodes University (2008 ) and Bachelor of Humanities (with distinction) in Political and International Studies from Rhodes University (2005-2007). Author of several articles on maritime issues, including: ‘South Africa and SADC: The Need for a SADC Integrated Maritime Strategy’. Special Edition of Scientia Militaria: Foreign Policy and Governance in the Maritime Domain in South Africa; ‘The future anchorage for enhanced African maritime governance’. iilwandle zethu : Journal of Ocean Law and Governance in Africa 1, 75-80 (2017), and ‘Maritime security in West Africa: Aiming for long-term solutions’. African Security Review. 22: 2. 85-91 (2013). He worked as a tutor at Rhodes University - Makhanda, South Africa (between January 2008 and December 2010) in the Department of Political and International Studies. He was also a researcher at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) - Pretoria, South Africa at different levels and periods: Senior Researcher at Maritime Security (October 2017 – December 2019), Researcher at Maritime Security (April 2013 – September 2017), ISS Consultant (September 2011 – March 2013) and Internship at ISS (February 2011 – August 2011). Currently, Mr. Timothy is a Senior Researcher and Maritime Project Leader – ISS.
