Rear Admiral Narciso Fastudo Junior

Dr. Narciso Fastudo Junior is from the city of Gabela, in the province of South Kwanza, Angola. He has a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Odessa, in the former Soviet Union (Russia), a Master's degree and also a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Agostinho Neto University in Angola.

Dr. Fastudo is a Navy officer who served in the Angolan Armed Forces for many years; 15 years in the Air Force and 27 years in the Navy. He held a position at the Ministry of Defense, where for almost a year he was linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition to Portuguese, Rear Admiral Fastudo speaks and understands Russian, French and English.

Throughout his career, namely from 1980 to 2002, Rear Admiral Fastudo held various roles in the Angolan Armed Forces. Among them, command and staff appointments stand out, from tactical to strategic levels of command. Rear Admiral Fastudo actively participated in the Angolan Liberation War and received two awards for his meritorious services. As part of his career progression, Dr. Fastudo has successfully attended several military courses including but not limited to Command and Direction, Peacekeeping, Exclusive Economic Zone, Military Resource Management and Leadership. He also holds degrees from the National War College of the Republic of South Africa, the US Naval Postgraduate College and the Angolan Air Defense Academy.

The Rear Admiral Fastudo was a Member of the South African Development Community (SADC) Permanent Maritime Committee from 1996 to 2016, and participated in the Third Gulf of Guinea/ECECA/ECOWAS Heads of State Summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea in 2013. On February 22, 2017 he started working in Yaoundé-Cameroon as Deputy Director of the Interregional Coordination Center (ICC) for the implementation of the Yaounde Code of Conduct MARITIME SAFETY AND SECURITY IN THE GULF OF GUINEA. On 21 May 2019 he was appointed Interim Executive Director of the ICC and is currently the Director of the ICC.
