EMGEPRON signs contract with Águas Azuis Consortium

The Naval Projects Management Company (EMGEPRON) signed a contract with the Águas Azuis Consortium, comprising the following companies: Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, Embraer Defense & Security and Atech, to manage the construction of 4 (four) “Tamandaré” Class frigates, which make part of one of the Strategic Programs of the Brazilian Navy (MB).

The Program aims to modernize the Naval Power Nucleus to guarantee the country's sovereignty and encourage the growth of the National Defense Industry. The ships will control Brazilian jurisdictional waters and the exclusive economic zone, which totals more than 4.5 million square kilometers and is known as "Blue Amazon", including the pre-salt fields. In addition, they will carry out search, rescue, peacekeeping and humanitarian aid operations.
